Chat2Sim — Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 13 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Chat2Sim ("the Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described below.
1. Data Controller
We operate as the data controller for personal data collected through the Service. For privacy inquiries, contact us at contact@chat2sim.ai.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register.
- Payment Information: Billing details when you purchase a plan. Payment processing is handled by third-party providers (e.g., Stripe); we do not store your full credit card number.
- Simulation Data: Simulation Requests (your natural language descriptions), uploaded files (geometry, CAD models, images, parameters), and any other content you submit through the Service.
- Communications: Messages you send to us via email or support channels.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, simulation types run, timestamps, session duration, and interaction patterns.
- Device and Technical Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, and screen resolution.
- Log Data: Server logs recording access times, referring URLs, and error logs.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: See Section 8.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
If you sign in through a third-party service (e.g., Google, GitHub), we receive your name, email, and profile information as authorized by that provider's permissions.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service: Processing your Simulation Requests, generating configurations, executing simulations, and delivering results.
- Account Management: Creating and managing your account, authenticating your identity, and communicating with you about your account.
- Payment Processing: Processing transactions, sending invoices, and managing subscriptions.
- Service Improvement: Analyzing usage patterns, diagnosing technical issues, and improving the Service's performance and features.
- AI Model Improvement: Using anonymized and aggregated simulation data to train and improve our AI agent. See Section 5 for details and opt-out options.
- Communications: Sending service-related notifications, security alerts, and (with your consent) marketing communications.
- Safety and Compliance: Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service, and complying with legal obligations.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:
- Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide the Service you requested (account management, simulation execution, payment processing).
- Legitimate Interests: Analytics, service improvement, fraud prevention, and security — where these interests are not overridden by your data protection rights.
- Consent: Marketing communications and optional data uses. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal Obligation: Processing required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
5. AI Training and Simulation Data
5.1 Paid Plans
For users on paid plans, we do not use your Simulation Requests, uploaded geometry, or Simulation Results to train our AI models unless you expressly opt in. We may use anonymized, aggregated metadata (such as solver performance metrics, convergence statistics, and error rates) that cannot be linked back to your specific simulations.
5.2 Free Tier
By using the Free Tier, you agree that we may use your Simulation Requests, uploaded content, Simulation Configurations, and Simulation Results to train, improve, and develop our AI agent. Free Tier simulation data and results may also be made publicly accessible. If your data is confidential or proprietary, do not use the Free Tier.
5.3 Opt-Out
Paid plan users who have previously opted in to AI training may opt out at any time by contacting us at contact@chat2sim.ai or adjusting their account settings. Opting out does not affect the lawfulness of processing performed prior to the opt-out.
6. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With third-party providers who process data on our behalf to operate the Service (cloud infrastructure, payment processing, analytics, customer support). These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it as directed by us.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request (such as a court order or subpoena). Where legally permitted, we will notify you before disclosing your data.
- Safety and Enforcement: To protect the rights, property, or safety of Chat2Sim, our users, or others, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
